FOR BEST USE:
Finding a home for your candle is key - make sure you select a spot away from curtains or flammable objects. Do not place close to the edge of a table where it could be knocked over. Use a heat-proof coaster if using it on a non-heat proof surface. Find a spot with good air circulation current to carry the fragrance through out the room.
The first burn is the most important - soy wax has a memory. That means the first burn needs to last long enough for the wax pool to reach the edges of the jar. This may take several hours, so make sure you have enough time for a proper first burn. If a candle is only burned briefly on the first go, it will not burn past the edges of the first burn and simply tunnel down with subsequent burns.
Botanical candles have organic matter in them - as the candle melts, try to keep it away from the wicks. The botanical décor may become dislodged from its original position and float slightly closer to the wick. Try to keep the wick area clear. For the most part, the botanicals will simply become coated in wax and sink down as the candle burns, but its important to keep an eye out for any big pieces straying too close to the direct flame.
Burn your candle for 3-4 hours at a time and trim your wicks - it may be tempting to leave the candle burning all day long, but for the longest possible candle life (50+ hrs) it's best to let the wax cool down between burns. It's also important to trim your wicks down to 1/4 inches between uses once the candle has cooled. This will provide the smoothest, longest lasting burn. If you find your candle is self extinguishing, it is most likely because the wick needs a trim.
Stop using when wax reaches 1 inch from the bottom of candle jar - using it past that point is a fire hazard. Please note that neither the glass containers nor the coconut bowls can withstand fire once the wax has evaporated from the jar. Having the wick burn without the wax buffer is very dangerous and will cause the jar to crack and potentially have the fire spread to surrounding areas. It's very important to put the candles out at the right time and not try to stretch out the last uses or leave them unattended indefinitely.
Please note: Our coconut vessels have passed a fire safety test and our glass candle jars are also specifically made to be heat proof. However, heatproof is not fire proof, so please be aware and keep an eye on your candles.
